Fishman Ellipse Aura Undersaddle Pickup and Preamp System - Wide Format

Fishman has really figured this out and perfected it. This pickup system truly gives the best of both worlds. Under-saddle pickup for punch and clarity, condenser mic for old school presence and warmth, and the ability to Blend the two sounds through their very well designed hidden preamp. The pre-A is accessible easily through the soundhole during performance, so no worries there. A very good system. Takes your acoustic guitar and adapts it to almost any situation or need. I have 3 of these installed in my guitars & love their presence on stage, plus they don't take away from the look of the guitar. Many of my musical guitarists' replace their on-board units with these and notice much improvement in the sound of their guitar when amplified . Fishman is a fine product !

Good pickup

I have a new Gibson J-200 with Fishman Aura Ellipse on board. When playing "plugged in" live there is a noticeable drop in output from the B and E strings. I run through a L.R.Baggs Venue DI then into FOH. I have also bypassed the DI and gone directly to the FOH. Either way the drop off in output stays constant. I have replaced the factory installed strings with Gibson ultra lite gage set for easier solo work which could account for some of the issue but not as significant as it is. Will replace the B and E (1 and 2) strings with a heavier gage to see if that helps. The fishman pre and under saddle pickup should have a consistent output regardless of strings used so I'm not very positive about mixing and matching strings. So far I am not happy with the Fishman Aura Ellipse. I would give it 3 stars.

Hopefully what I am about to say helps someone make a decision about the Fishman Aura Ellipse. I don't have enough adjective's to express how impressed I am.I have tried several different types to include Dual Source with a Mic and even though this one does not have a Mic the software from Fishman more than compensates for one. You can load any number of microphone makes into the Aura Ellipse and then cycle through to find the one that makes your guitar sound as though you had a lot of stage equipment. When I say you can load any number of mic makes that is true, but only 4 at a time. That has not been a problem for me because I take a couple of days with each load and then I have listed the ones I prefer. The software allows you to print your loads so you always know what you are playing.Very easy to install and operate. Just make sure which pick-up you need...1/8" or 3/32" under-saddle.As I continue to use this I will give another update if I find it less than I have indicated.Happy Playing

I'm custom building my own acoustic guitar, and this unit is perfect for 'plug-in' work, while not altering the appearance.

Best on the market. I have R L Baggs and it's not as good as this one
